This is without a doubt, one of the most disturbing films ever made. If you are faint of heart, this one is definitely not for you. This contains graphic scenes of animal torture, rape, and human mutilations, as well as sacrifices.

This is the story of four documentary film makers who go into the Amazon to shoot a documentary on cannibalism and subsequently they are never heard from again. Months later, a search party comprised of a NY anthropology professor and two guides sets out to find the film makers. Find them they do, but all that is left are a couple of bones and some film canisters. Finally the professor gains the cannibals confidence and trades for the containers of film. Back in New York, (hey how come all Italian movies seem to take place in NY: MTDS, ZOMBIE, NYR, DBMD etc.) the films are prepared for a television show to let the people know what happened. The material turns out to be too violent and inhuman to be shown; therefore, it gets thrown away.

The documentary way in which Deodato filmed this is ingenious and the killing of real animals (even though it shouldn’t have been done) really helps the atmosphere of the movie. This is far better than Make Them Die Slowly and far more violent too. This is a classic if you can stomach it. It also has some nice cannibal T&A. (heehee)
