DINNER WITH A VAMPIRE 1986
Directed by Lamberto Bava
Cast - George Hilton, Patrizia Pellegrino, Riccardo Rossi, Valeria Milillo,
Yvonne Scio, Daniele Aldrovandi, Igor Zalewski, Isabel Russinov
-
A group of hopeful young adults are gathered at an audition, trying to
land themselves a role in a movie. The wide variety of talent includes singers,
dancers, and comedians. After the audition, three gals and one guy are invited
to the director's castle for the weekend. Count Urek is a well known horror
film director, and the group is anxious to meet him. What they don't know is
that the count is vampire and they're his next meal. When finally confronted
by their undead host, the group soon discovers that all the movie myths about
crosses, garlic, and wooden stakes actually have no effect at all on this creature.
How will they overcome this predicament?

Lamberto Bava has directed some good horror films, but this is not one
of them. DINNER WITH A VAMPIRE is an awful, unfunny horror comedy. The cast
of dimwits are very annoying, and George Hilton is utterly ridiculous as the
vampire count. The film features a seemingly never ending scenario of the count
capturing his guests, just to watch them escape. It's repeated several times,
and it gets old real quick. The only bright spot in this film, is the footage
of an old vampire movie by Count Urek, that the guests watch. It's too bad this
film wasn't as good. There are a few decent gore scenes, that include a heart
ripping scene that's cool, but it does not make up for the rest of the movie.
This is a bad film, not recommended unless you absolutely
need to see every vampire movie ever made.
