THE NIGHT EVELYN CAME OUT OF THE GRAVE 1971
Directed by Emilio P. Miraglia
Cast - Anthony Steffen, Marina Malfatti, Umberto Raho, Roberto Maldera, Giacomo
Rossi Stuart, Erika Blanc
Allen Cunningham (Steffen) is mentally unstable. Haunted by visions of his late wife Evelyn, Allen has a bad habit of bringing women to his mansion, only to torture and sometimes kill them. One evening at a friend's party, Allen meets this attractive woman named Gladys. No sooner than they meet, He proposes marriage. Gladys accepts and becomes the new Lady Of Cunningham Estate. Unfortunately Allen's visions of his late wife start getting worse, as he's being haunted by her ghost... or is he just insane? As the plot unfolds, cast members start turning up dead. What is the mystery surrounding Evelyn's death?
This is a superb thriller and a true classic of the early 70's. It would not be fair to go into further detail, as the multiple plot twists are quite enjoyable. This is a steadily paced effort with plenty of topless women to feast your eyes on. Marina Malfatti in particular has the most eye catching wardrobe. Despite the lack of blood, the film is violent enough in it's own right. If you're looking for a good horror mystery, look no further than this one. Highly recommended for fans of European horror.
